During the last decade there has been a change towards mechanization and homogenization of farming, which uses pesticides, additives, herbicides, synthetic fertilizers and mass-production techniques. All this is clearly affecting mankind’s health, and new diseases are spreading rapidly amongst humans and animals (bird’s flu being the most recent one).

Reports from the World Health Organization explain how using chemicals and other additives in our foods, along with the manufacturing we do to produce box foods are actually a big threat to our heath.

If you know how to grow potted plants or have room for a small garden it would be wise to grow your own organic produce. I am explaining seven great reasons for doing this here:

1. You will not find any additives in your organic vegetables. Through research by organic food associations we are shown how these things added to our foods can cause mi grains, heart diseases, osteoporosis, and hyperactivity.

2. You will not have to worry about synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. These chemicals are used to protect crops from insects and extreme temperatures but they do affect the quality of the produce.Pesticides are toxins to human as well.

3. Your vegetables will not be genetically modified (GM). Antibiotics, drugs and hormones are used on vegetables to grow more and larger ones. One of the consequences of this practice are vegetables which look all the same and are usually tasteless. In the end we end up consuming the hormones that have been used on the vegetables, with the potential risks for our health.

4. By eating organic vegetables you have grow yourself you will be sure they are healthy for you. You will not need to worry about the addatives named above, and they will be more natural than anythign you can get at the supermarket. Your health will not bein jeappardy and you will know that nothing has been added to your produce.

5. Growing your own organic vegetables will provide you with much more tasty vegetables. Using pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, hormones and antibiotics cause vegetables to grow in an unnatural way and hurt the taste as well. Organic vegetables will enhance your cooking as they tend to have much better flavor.

6. Organic farming is friendly to the environment. Because you won’t use pesticides or other equally harming products on your vegetables, you will not damage the soil or the air with the chemical components.

7. Another plus from growing your own organic vegetables is that you contribute to your own self-sustainability as well as that of the planet. Communities have been started where people can exchange produce that they have grown naturally. This creates a friendly enviornment which is beneficial to everyone.

In the end, eating organic products only means that we do not add anything else to them than they would naturally have. As you can guess, additives, fertilizers, pesticides or hormones are not components of naturally grown food. To better care for your health, grown your own organic vegetables -and a few pots is all you need.

Bed bugs were problem critters in the beginning of the 20th century, but they were nearly wiped out in the middle of the 20th century. Lately though, bed bugs are reappearing again because the insecticides used back then are now banned.

People are the globe are traveling more as countries become more global. This has also led to bed bugs being transported all over the place. Hotels where international guests stay get infected by the bed bugs these travelers bring. New guests pick up the bed bugs and unknowingly introduce them to their own homes.

Bed bugs hide just about anywhere they want, as long as they can not be found. Some examples of hiding places are in your clothes, on your mattress, in between cracks of your walls, and under your furniture.

Right before dawn, the bed bugs come out to feed on your blood. They inject a chemical into your body so that you will not feel anything when they suck out your blood.

If you want to get rid of all the bed bugs, then you will need to seek out all the places that they hide. They normally like to hide somewhere close to their food source. If you miss just one bed bug, they will quickly reproduce so it is imperative to get all of them.

Bed bugs usually hide in the mattress. So in order to get rid of bed bugs, you can get a plastic mattress cover and encase your entire mattress inside. This keeps the bed bugs from coming out at night. Hence, the bed bugs die of starvation. Be aware that you have to keep the cover on for many months because the bed bugs can go without food for just as long.

To get rid of bed bugs hiding in places other than your mattress, you will have to do some searching. Look at every possible crevice in your home around your bed.

Finding and getting rid of bed bugs can be pretty hard to do if you are not experienced in doing so. You may want to enlist the help of exterminators since they know where bed bugs hide and have the necessary equipment to get rid of bed bugs.

Bed bugs were not a problem many years ago when DDT was still in use. Nowadays, since many powerful insecticides have been banned, bed bugs are making a strong come back.

Another cause of the resurgence of bed bugs was due to more international traveling where people from countries with bed bugs would go to countries that did not have them. Hotels throughout the U.S. became infected by the pests as well.

Bed bugs can hide anywhere. They can hide in your clothes, luggage, mattress, furniture, or in cracks and crevices in your home. Usually they will hide close to their food, which is you, so they stay in the mattress.

Right before dawn, the bed bugs come out to feed on your blood. They inject a chemical into your body so that you will not feel anything when they suck out your blood.

To kill bed bugs and get rid of them once and for all from your home, you have to find each and every last one of them. By leaving just one behind, the bed bugs will repopulate quickly in your residence.

To kill of the bed bugs in your mattress, you may want to buy a mattress encasement. This encasement closes off your mattress to the rest of the world and thereby traps the bed bugs inside. Doing this eventually starves that bed bugs to death but it could take at least 6 months.

After killing the bed bugs on your mattress, look elsewhere around your room. Any place that seems like a good hiding spot you should check it out.

If you do not feel that you are proficient in finding and killing bed bugs, you may need to hire a professional exterminator. Exterminators know exactly where to look to find bed bugs and have power insecticides that can kill them.

by Renee Garcia

Is there a bedbug infestation in your house? Hiring an exterminator can solve your problem. But if you want to get rid of the bebugs on your own, you can do so. Just be patient because you will have to repeat the process to make sure that you got rid of the bedbugs for good.

To get rid of bedbugs, you must have to identify what places are infested first. If it is your bedroom, look which specific areas have bedbugs. Is it your mattress, carpet, drawer, bed linens, furniture, bedpost, picture frame, or others? Yes, you have to check every nook and cranny. Even cracks and holes in the wall and floor can be habitats of bedbugs!

The next step will be thorough scrubbing and vacuuming. To get rid of bedbugs, you must begin with scrubbing every surface with a stiff toothbrush. This will dislodge the bedbugs and the eggs.

Then vacuum thoroughly. After vacuuming, put the vacuum bag in a sealed plastic bag. Then seal all cracks and holes.

For infested clothes and bed linens, wash these in hot water. This kills bedbugs.

You must use a pesticide for the walls, mattress, carpets, furnitures, and others. Make sure that you buy one that is for bedbugs. Remember to read the product label and instructions very well. Every pesticide has a specific way of applying it. You must also be very careful not to ingest the pesticide because this is poisonous. Apply the pesticide properly. Some brands also need to be vacuumed after application.

The last step would be using a mattress cover for bedbugs. Sealing your mattress inside a plastic cover ensures that no bedbug goes inside and outside the mattress. Whatever bedbug is left in the mattress will die in 6 to 12 months because they wont be able to eat.

In order to be very sure that you got rid of the bedbugs for good, you must check your house regularly for bedbug infestation.

by James Redder

Are you online looking for an actionable way to get rid of termites once and for all? Immediate action is what you need especially if you believe you have a current termite infestation. This decision should be made as soon as possible to mitigate any damages.

You can start this process by making the decision to use or not use professional exterminators. Maybe you want to choose a natural solution for dealing with your infestation issues. In any case you should decide on an action plan sooner then later and adjust it as necessary. On top of just starting this process you should also set a deadline for completion.

Start With Understanding

You need to understand the habits of termites if you intend to get rid of them permanently. The basic idea is that wood is a source of nutrition for them. That means you need to keep wood stored outside away from your house. If you need to you can always make a solution of boric acid and water and cover the outside of your house. This can be used as a temporary deterrent.

If you have a garden then make sure their is sufficient distance between the garden and your house. You wouldn’t want to supply the termites the means to get close to your house would you? If you do suspect that there may be a colony of termites in striking distance of your house then what you can do is use the boric acid solution mentioned above and soak some wooden stakes and drive them into the ground where you suspect the colony is living. They will start eating the boric treated wood and with some time will basically eat themselves to death!

Don’t Let It Happen In The First Place

When you have successfully implemented the given ideas for getting rid of termites then you should be thinking about how to prevent future issues. After getting rid of them you want to keep it that way. of course this means keeping their food source (i.e. wood) as far as possible from your house. You can also coat any previously infested areas with a citric acid based cleaning solution.

The focus of this article was two fold. First, get rid of any existing termite issues and then make sure you prevent future ones from occurring. If you use the information that was given here then you should have little issue with accomplishing both of these goals.

Anytime we have problems with ants, fleas and/or ticks, cockroaches, water bugs, spiders and other insects we have to use something to treat the infested areas. Now, this is not always so easy to do, and when there are children around the difficulty to eliminate these pests increases. We have to be very careful and cautious when spraying or using powders for these bugs because of the chemical reactions that may happen.

Sometimes a person’s body can have a reaction to the one or more of the chemicals in these pesticides even though you may think it is harmless. Even though the spray is wet it will dry fairly quickly. Once dry, it can still affect a person because of the sensitivity of the person’s body and immunity reacting to the chemicals in the pesticide.

If someone is having a reaction to a pesticide, there may have a sick stomach, a weakness, fatigued and headaches. If you suspect this may be the problem, let your doctor know and have some tests run to verify the source.
