How To Drive Away Rats From Your Residence

Rats are a major nuisance in several houses all over the world. Some of the ways of dealing with the rat problem in your home are mentioned here.

You can use electronic pest control methods to rid your house of rats. These ways use very high frequency sounds produced by ultrasonic machines that can keep the rats away. These sounds are audible only to rats and hence the machines are safe for humans and household pets.

Organic rat repellents are also good solutions for effective elimination of rats. This method makes use of minute tablets or pellets that emit smells of rat predators and thus scare the rats away. They can be scattered across the residence, in the garage, backyard and all other places that are frequented by rats.

Moth balls that give out a strong odour can also be used and can drive the rats away from your house. They are extremely efficacious if kept in remote and dark nooks of the home, which are likely to be inhabited by the rats.

Use of wooden snap traps that are mechanical devices for preventing rats from visiting your house has been one of the most popular methods of catching and eliminating rats. They are not just inexpensive and easy to use, but are also highly effective if laid with the correct bait. They must be kept away from kids and pets as they can result in injuries. The problem with such snap traps is that they can capture not more than one rat at one time. Though, the benefit of this technique is that it is not harmful like toxic pesticides.

You can also use a glue board to trap and kill rats. These are usually made of cardboard or wood, and sticky glue is applied on their surface. The board can then be laid at specific places after placing some food crumbs to draw the rats. When a rat scuttles across the board for the food, it gets stuck and eventually dies from either starvation or suffocation.
