Celiac disease is a digestive disorder that affects both children and adults. If a person with this disease eats foods containing gluten, it causes damage to the small intestine and it does not properly absorb the food. The smallest amount of gluten can cause health issues. There is protein in certain grains that are harmful to a person with this condition. This is found in wheat, barley and rye so those with celiac disease cannot eat these foods. They will have to change their style of eating to gluten free cooking.
